The Sentient Code: AI & Python — Grade 12
This unit introduces students to the world of Artificial Intelligence through Python programming in a highly accessible and hands-on manner. Students learn the foundations of how computers think, store, and process information.
From writing their first line of code to building real AI-powered applications using tools like Edge Impulse and the ESP32-CAM, learners are guided through a complete journey of discovery, logic, and creativity.
What students will be able to do
- Understand components of a computer system and basic Python syntax
- Recognise the purpose of programming and its role in automation
- Explore how Artificial Intelligence learns from data to make decisions
- Define AI and work with Python variables and data types
- Explain how computers “see” and use for loops in Python
- Explore machine learning types and write conditional Python code
- Implement a working bottle counter using ESP32-CAM and Edge Impulse
